Travel Zone Tashi view point

Tashi View Point is a perfect place to witness the brilliant surroundings like mountains, valleys and Gangtok itself. This famous tourist point is located at a distance of 8 km from the town and is mostly known for offering some of the best sunrise and sunset views. One can witness the changing of colours of the Kanchenjunga and Siniolchu Peaks as the sun slowly moves from this view point along with the glimpse famous monasteries of Gangtok, Phodong and Labrang. Tourists can enjoy refreshing drinks while relishing the stunning panorama and can also buy souvenirs from the shops set up here.Tashi View Point is a noteworthy place for nature lovers as one get an opportunity to spend some peaceful time away from the bustling crowd amidst the resonating sound of birds and breeze. Travel Zone Ganesh Tok

Ganesh Tok is a small Ganesh Temple located 7 km from Gangtok at an altitude of 6500 m and can accommodate just one person at a time and one has to crawl to reach there. But a panoramic view of the entire town of Gangtok, the Raj Bhavan complex and mount Kanchenjunga can be seen from here and makes for a breathtaking view.

Travel Zone Research Institute of Tibetology

Perched on the top of a beautiful hill, the Sikkim Research Institute of Tibetology was established in 1958 to promote research into the Mahayana sect of Buddhism and Tibetan language and culture. The institute was initially known as the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology after Late Palden Thondup Namgyal (the Chogyal of Sikkim).

You can enjoy the views from the top of the hill as well as learn a lot about the norms and traditions of Mahayana Buddhism and Tibetans. The institute also plays host to one of the world’s largest collection of Buddhist books, rare manuscripts and Tibetan cloth paintings called thangkas.

Travel Zone Directorate of Handicraft & Handloom

The Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom (D.H.H) began its history in the year 1957 when it was established as a Technical Institute for Training and Production of traditional arts and crafts with 58 nos. of trainees. Over the years, this Institute has evolved into a major centre of learning and training in the Traditional Arts and Crafts of the State. The Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom as on date is a hub of activity, development and progress showcasing the traditional arts and crafts of Sikkim. The growth and expansion of D.H.H in terms of physical assets, infrastructure and manpower has been impressive, having on date as many as 32 branch training centers throughout the State with a total no. of 388 trainees.

Travel Zone Ridge Park Flower Show

Ridge Park is floral heaven. The latter is a flat stretch of road exactly above Gangtok Town and if you’re into floriculture, an hour or two will pass by in the blink of an eye. Sikkim’s weather conditions are conducive to orchid cultivation and you will lose count of the number of varieties you spot at Ridge Park. A gazebo for travellers to rest while walking this stretch is a great addition for those simply wanting to get a feel of Gangtok.

The Annual Orchid Show takes place below the Ridge Park at the Flower Exhibition Centre (FEC). While the greenhouse might look modest in size, once you step in you are lost among a variety of colours. Flowers pop up in every nook and corner.
